From one of my Culture list peeps who talks about: "arguing on the internet. Interesting things here, involving sexism, male privilege, and Angry Internet Men".

Ach! I just wrote a lengthy reply and LJ ate it! crap!

there's actually another entry (that duplicates this one) just one message back... I'm not sure how that happened either. =/

I'm not a game player but I wouldn't play Hey Baby for the same reasons as your's.

Also... you can totally link to it! =)

Finally... the great thing about getting old? is that no one cat calls me any more... and I really appreciate it!

Cat calls were never my problem. Jeering was. One particularly memorable incident was when I was in college and walked past a bunch of friends of the guy I was dating at the time. They were rugby players, and the field was between the arts building (where 80% of my classes were) and the parking lot. They took time out of their practice to yell insults and laugh at me as I walked by. I broke off with the guy because of it. I was afraid to go to his dorm for fear of being ridiculed again. I spent the rest of the semester hiding in the arts building until rugby practice was over.

If I could have ported all of us to Hey Baby and beat the crap out of them, I don't think it would have made me feel better. I'd still have to go back to Real Life the next day and deal with a whole new bunch of cretins.

Yeah, I much prefer being an invisible matronly chick.

When I consider our orthodox Muslim sisters who wear the chador and burhka and tell me that they wear them to help preserve the self control of men... I understand. (but not much)

I think men need to get a grip on their own self control... but seeing as thousands of years have passed with little or nothing in that venue changing much (ok, that's a bit of overstatement... maybe) I don't think there's much hope.

Pigs IZ Pigs

I'd also be curious (back to our sisters in hiding) how much rape and assault happens IN SPITE OF being covered.
