Cat calls were never my problem. Jeering was. One particularly memorable incident was when I was in college and walked past a bunch of friends of the guy I was dating at the time. They were rugby players, and the field was between the arts building (where 80% of my classes were) and the parking lot. They took time out of their practice to yell insults and laugh at me as I walked by. I broke off with the guy because of it. I was afraid to go to his dorm for fear of being ridiculed again. I spent the rest of the semester hiding in the arts building until rugby practice was over.
If I could have ported all of us to Hey Baby and beat the crap out of them, I don't think it would have made me feel better. I'd still have to go back to Real Life the next day and deal with a whole new bunch of cretins.
Yeah, I much prefer being an invisible matronly chick.
